Be part of a movement to change the way Europe pays

In today's digital world, payments often still feel outdated: random delays and confusing rules make it harder than it should be to pay and get paid. The European Payments Initiative (EPI) is here to change all that, forever.

With Wero, our digital wallet, we make sending and receiving money simple, seamless and secure across France, Belgium and Germany, with more countries and omnichannel solutions coming soon. Supported by 14 major banks and the two largest European acquirers, EPI is building a new, proudly European payment system: easy, instant and transparent, all for the greater good.

What's in it for you

Join a project shaping European payment sovereignty, contributing directly to the launch of a new European acceptance network.

Embrace a role where human connection and ecosystem presence are central, with frequent events, meetings and interactions across the French payment landscape.

At EPI, we embrace a remote-first culture, enabling our teams to work remotely from the country they are based in, with in-person meetings at least once a quarter to foster collaboration and connection.

Your impact

You will be the face of Wero's merchant acceptance in France, working within a five-person European team and reporting to Laetitia, Director of Acceptance France.

Your mission: expand, structure and secure the acceptance of Wero among merchants, in collaboration with acquirers and strategic partners.

Your impact will include:
1. Develop and drive merchant acceptance in France

  • Identify and engage priority French merchants and acceptance verticals (public acceptance, retail, services, mobility…).
  • Promote Wero's acceptance proposition in the market and ensure strategic alignment with merchants.

2. Support acquirers throughout onboarding and activation

  • Ensure merchants follow the required onboarding steps and meet activation prerequisites.
  • Act as the operational liaison between merchants, acquirers and internal teams to keep activations on track.

3. Represent Wero across the French ecosystem

  • Participate in industry events, associations and forums to increase awareness and adoption.
  • Monitor competitive offerings and market dynamics to feed into EPI's acceptance strategy.

4. Bridge merchant needs with internal teams

  • Translate merchant feedback into actionable insights for Product, Scheme, Pricing and Membership.
  • Ensure acceptance requirements are clearly communicated and prioritised internally.

5. Provide visibility through structured reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date pipelines and activity tracking.
  • Synthesize market progress and merchant feedback to support strategic decisions

Technology stack

We use HubSpot as our CRM and the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira…) for collaboration and documentation.

To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements

Must-haves

  • Strong knowledge of the payment ecosystem in France (PSPs, acquirers, schemes, public acceptance, challenges).
  • Experience in merchant acceptance, business development, account management, or payment strategy.
  • Ability to drive merchants or partners through onboarding / activation processes.
  • Comfortable thriving in a remote-first, multicultural environment.
  • Shares our values: curiosity, resilience, optimism, autonomy, initiative.

Nice to hace:

  • Experience working with acquirers, large merchants or public acceptance players.
  • Experience in French payment public acceptance (transport, utilities, mobility, public services…).

If this looks like you, the recruitment steps are:

1) First call with one of our recruiters
2) Meeting with Laetitia, Director of Acceptance France
3) Meeting with a team member
4) Meeting with Chief Acceptance Market Strategy

And hopefully, an offer you can't refuse

Guidelines Things candidates could wrongly expect from the position and which would lead to a misunderstanding – 3 max

  • You expect a traditional sales role involving negotiation and contract closing
  • You need a highly structured environment with little ambiguity.
  • You are not comfortable managing multiple parallel engagements and frequent ecosystem events.
